When you visit...

First Christian Church of Chesterton Administrative Office is located at 1497 1/2 Woodlawn, Suite B in Chesterton, Indiana. Everyone is welcome to join us in worship at the Duneland YMCA located at 215 Roosevelt Rd., also in Chesterton, Indiana! We offer two services, unless a planned “one service” Sunday is taking place on a particular Sunday, with our first service being at 8:00 a.m. and the second service being at 10:30 a.m. From 9:30-10:25 a.m., we offer “Discipleship ‘U’”, which is geared toward Christian education and fellowship for all ages. The 8:00 a.m. service features traditional music with and upbeat flavor and the 10:30 service features a more contemporary approach to the music portion of the service.

It is our desire to mirror the example in Scripture of the early
Church by following Acts 2:42’s example of worship consistency.
There it says, “…they continued steadfastly in the Apostle’s Doctrine, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer.”
In the Greek, each of the four aspects of worship have a definitive article in front of them, that is, “THE Apostle’s Doctrine, THE fellowship, THE breaking of bread, and THE prayer.” This is significant because it denotes a particular norm for worship as an example to follow. Thusly, we as a church invite you to join us for the following…

1-The Apostle’s Doctrine…, or definitive truth in teaching, is done towards the end of the service, as our Preaching Pastor seeks to “rightly divide the Word of Truth” through expository teaching of the Bible and to motivate those listening toward the goal of obedience to God.

2-The Fellowship…As we gather together corporately, our worship service allows for times of fellowship as we sing in unison songs of the faith and choruses that seek to magnify God. There is also an informal time of greeting one another during the service. Although we have a time of sharing tithes and offerings as a part of fellowship, it is NOT our expectation that you give as a non-member, as our members have covenanted together to be obedient to God’s Word in this expression of our overall stewardship.

3-The Breaking of Bread…Being a definitive aspect of worship, and, being a metaphor for the Lord’s Supper, we seek to offer the Lord’s Supper at every service on Sundays. After a meditation is given, the emblems are passed and those participating are asked to take the bread and the cup as passed to them. We practice an “open communion” meaning that we do not place any prerequisites upon you as a participant, other than your acknowledgment of Christ as a Believer.

4-The Prayer…During our services, we take special time to worship God through prayer. Prayer is an intimate time in which God’s attributes can be identified by each individual personally,
as well as a time when our Elders will identify specific needs represented by raised hands, while everyone has their heads bowed and eyes closed. Our Prayer Ministry personnel are also available for specific prayer needs, too.

We offer refreshments in the entryway, which are free to first-time visitors. This ministry is run by donations.
When you arrive, you will be greeted by smiling ‘greeters’ who are there to help you to know where to go for all purposes,
including children’s programs, restrooms, the auditorium, access to materials, etc.
We look forward to seeing YOU this Sunday! Church isn’t the same without “u”!
